INTRO TO NOSE WORK (Interior) - Part 1
The 6 week class is $145
Dogs of all ages welcome! Must be on current vaccines.

All dogs have an amazing sense of smell.  With this 6-week class, we will show your dog how to hone in on this amazing ability AND work them out both mentally and physically. Remember, a tired dog is a happy dog!  Nose Work is also one of the fastest growing dog sports in the country.  This introductory class is a great way to get started!  You can learn more about the sport of Nose Work here: www.nacsw.net.

In this class, dogs will be hunting for food hidden inside boxes, containers and throughout the interior of a room. Each week the dogs will be expected to work out increasingly difficult puzzles designed to increase their confidence, hunting ability and odor obedience. You will also receive weekly reviews containing tips on how you may practice at home.  Only one dog will work at a time, and all other dogs must be crated or secured in the car.  Crating dogs in between turns gives them a much needed rest, as Nose Work can be very taxing.  Dogs who are reactive to other dogs are welcome, but must wear a red bandanna.  However, this class is not appropriate for dogs who are people reactive/aggressive or have a biting history.  We are happy to work with these dogs individually.

Prerequisites: Dogs must be comfortable being in a crate or secured in a car waiting their turn

    INTRO TO ODOR
The 6 week class is $145
Dogs of all ages welcome! Must be on current vaccines.

In this second installment to our Nose Work class series, dogs will be introduced to Birch, one of the three odors used in Nose Work competitions trials.  Over the course of 6-weeks, your dog will learn to locate Birch hidden inside of boxes, containers and throughout the interior of room.  We will hold a mock ORT (Odor Recognition Test) at the conclusion of the class.  Students will also be provided with a small amount of Birch odor to practice with at home.  Only one dog will work at a time, and all other dogs must be crated.  Crating dogs in between turns gives them a much needed break, as Nose Work can be very taxing.  Dogs who are reactive to other dogs are welcome, but must wear a red bandanna.  However, this class is not appropriate for dogs who are people reactive/aggressive or have a biting history.  We are happy to work with these dogs individually.

      INTRO TO EXTERIORS AND VEHICLES
The 6 week class is $145
Dogs of all ages welcome! Must be on current vaccines.

The third installment of our Nose Work class series, this 6-week class will help your dog locate Birch hidden in the exterior of a building and on a vehicle.  You will learn how to thoroughly cover a search area, take into account the wind and support your dog with your body positioning and movement.  We will also practice using long lines and see how this allows the dog to search more efficiently.  Only one dog will work at a time, and all other dogs must be crated.  Crating the dogs in between turns gives them a much needed break, as Nose Work can be very taxing.  Dogs who are reactive to other dogs are welcome, but must wear a red bandanna. However, this class is not appropriate for dogs who are people reactive/aggressive or have a biting history.  We are happy to work with these dogs individually.

        ADVANCED NOSE WORK
The 6 week class is $145
Dogs of all ages welcome! Must be on current vaccines.

In this fourth installment of our Nose Work class series, your dog will be introduced to the remaining odors used in competition, Anise and Clove. They will learn to detect these odors in containers, interiors, exteriors and on vehicles. Attention will be spent to ensure your dog has the same enthusiasm and drive to detect these odors as they did with Birch. Students will be provided with a small amount of Anise and Clove odor to practice with at home.

Dogs of all ages are welcome, must be on current vaccines.

In this fifth and final installment of our Nose Work class series, we will simulate trial-like conditions for you and your dog. All three odors will be hidden in containers, in an interior of a room, exterior of a building and on a vehicle.  Classes can be customized week-to-week to meet the needs of the individual dog/handler teams such as endurance, ring nerves, covering a search area, overcoming environmental stressors.
